Around Qingming Festival, the fake forsythia has purple blue flowers and golden fruits…… More than 20 years ago, people in Fuzhou often saw green hedge plants with thorns in their stems behind their houses. However, nowadays, fake forsythia is rare in Fuzhou urban area, which can only be seen in rural areas and some parks to be transformed.
Fuzhou garden experts said that Greening should not pursue fashion, but neglect the protection of Fuzhou native plants. It is understood that the barbed fake forsythia has been widely used in green sub-belts in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, becoming a scene in the spring streets.

Search: there are no more trees left in Yantai Mountain in the Green Belt
Yesterday, the reporter searched in Minjiang, West Lake, Baima River and other parks and found no such plant. The garden department said that at present, in the green belt of municipal roads, this kind of barbed forsythia has disappeared, and there may be this kind of plant in Jianxin area and Yantai Mountain Park.
At noon yesterday, the reporter came to Maipu village, Jianxin town, where fake forsythia was widely planted for green hedge. A nursery owner said that the fake forsythia now are all golden leaves or flower and leaf, without thorns.
With the help of garden experts, the reporter found several fake forsythia near Yantai Mountain Park, which were planted beside the park garbage dump and had not been taken care of for a long time. A nearby government unit also planted fake forsythia, where the fake forsythia is 3 meters high and hung with golden fruits. Garden experts said that such a big fake forsythia is rare in urban areas.
Expert: most of the product seedlings are non-barbed
Garden experts said that the fake forsythia seeds currently planted in urban areas mainly include Phnom Penh fake forsythia, golden leaf fake forsythia, and flower and leaf fake forsythia. As commodity seedlings, namely “domesticated varieties”, they no longer have the original attributes, many without thorns.
“It is difficult to see small blue and purple flowers on commercial seedlings. In fact, the local fake forsythia has stronger adaptability, but now it is difficult to find a parent.” Garden experts say that Greening will pursue fashion and ROYAL WIND, but it should be rational and not give up these native plants in order to pursue profits.
Suggestion: barbed anti-crossing green belt can be planted
“Fake forsythia is also called Taiwan forsythia, and the old people call it fence tree. In front of the house, cut the branches and insert them into the soil to reproduce, and the spring will blossom and bear fruit. Because it is barbed, it can prevent wandering cat and dog from breaking into the courtyard, and there is no need to make a fence.” During the Qingming holiday, Mr. Chen in Fuzhou saw fake forsythia in the tomb sweeping in the suburbs, and his childhood memories were immediately recalled.
Mr. Li, who likes gardening, said that the artificial forsythia needs cutting when breeding. Because the leaves are barbed, some nursery schools do not like this variety. “In fact, green belts can be planted. This kind of plant has strong vitality and is easy to reproduce, at the same time, thorns can also prevent others from crossing. Green sub-car belts in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui have been widely used.”

Taida campus fake forsythia when Green Hedge
In Taiwan, fake forsythia is widely used for greening. Yesterday, the reporter saw on the campus of Taida that the green hedge made of fake forsythia was about half a meter high, with green leaves, which conveyed the breath of spring.
Wang Yao, an associate professor of Xiamen Institute of Technology who studied at the Institute of Architecture and Urban-Rural Research of Taida, said that the flowers of fake forsythia were purplish blue and were good green hedge plants. There were many fake forsythia green hedge in both Xiamen and Taiwan. Forsythia suspensa originated from tropical America, but it was introduced to China very early. It is widely planted in the south and can be regarded as a native plant. The cost of maintenance and management is lower than that of exotic plants, which can create regional landscape vision.
Wang Yao teaches landscape design in the Art Department of Xiamen Institute of Technology. She believes that using plants as green hedge is a guiding and warning function. The ultimate goal is to advocate caring for greening and paying attention to traffic safety. (Haidu reporter Shi Lei Lei Lei Zhang Wei/Wen Baohua/picture)
